A project that generated a fair bit of discussion but finally got underway nearly six months ago is the Antigua St cycleway connection between Moorhouse Ave and St Asaph St. It is now nearing completion, ideally in sync with the soon-to-opened Parakiore recreation centre adjacent to it. I went out the other day to check out final progress…
As you can see, each side of the street features a protected one-way cycleway, with appropriate warning features at the driveways and side streets. Nice to also see some planting and rain garden features as well. This work completes the final link in bringing the (already very well used) Quarrymans Trail cycleway safely into the central city.

Great to finally have this connection. Ending the MCRs at the four aves was always silly.
