The final week of Bike Month 2026 is upon us…

I hope that everyone has been enjoying lots of different activities this month as part of the Aotearoa Bike Challenge 2026 – as I posted a few weeks back, there certainly has been no shortage of them around…

Lots of people biking to Summer Sparks – a pity the bike parking was a bit limited…

I’ve certainly been busy with a few bike rides over the past few weeks with my partner, getting over to watch some theatre at Mona Vale, cruising along the Heathcote River, and trying out a spot of mountain-biking at McLeans Forest today.

At our work, we’ve been knocking off a few different rides with the team throughout the month, as well as the usual journeys to/from work and elsewhere (even with some of the challenging weather last week…). All that activity has us placed fairly well in some of the different company leaderboards – hopefully we can do a final push this week to get further up…

Looking at the Events Calendar for the final week, there are still a few different activities scheduled, from rides to cycle skills training to bike workshops. And for those who want to add their 2c worth to making the city a better place for cycling, feel free to come on out to Hornby’s Matatiki Library next Saturday 28th any time between 10am – 4pm to share some ideas with Spokes Canterbury about improving cycling in Christchurch (as you saw in my post about a week ago, there’s even now a nice cycleway from town that gets you all the way out that way…).

What will you be doing bike-wise for the final week of February?
