As many of you will know, last week saw the NZ cricket team play England at Hagley Oval in the first of three test matches. And, while the end result wasn’t what I was hoping, my partner and I had a fun day attending on the Saturday and joining in the “dress-up day” fun as well.
We biked to the cricket to save a lot of traffic and parking hassle (although, as I’ve alluded to previously, the bike parking options at Hagley Oval are still rather limited…). Settling in for a long day on the embankment would no doubt require a couple of low fold-out chairs – but how to carry them? That’s where the versatility of bike racks come in handy…
As you can see, thanks to some panniers (stocked with our costumes and accessories for the day) and a bungee cord, it was pretty straightforward to make a decent platform, secure two folded seats on top, and bring them with us.
While the growing population of cargo bikes is broadening the possibilities of what you can carry on a bike, as we’ve discussed before even the humble ordinary bicycle can also be a useful workhorse sometimes…
Do you sometimes use your bike to carry interesting stuff?
