It’s been another fantastic Biketober with lots of activities across Christchurch over the past month. If you’re quick, you can still listen in on the “Reclaiming the Streets” seminar at Tūranga this evening (5.30pm) or take part in tonight’s Halloween Ride around Beckenham (7.30pm) to finish things up. Otherwise, here’s what’s coming up for the next month:
- Pushbikes Papanui are back with another series of their popular bike maintenance courses on Saturday mornings (9-10am). For just $10 you can learn about basic maintenance or more advanced topics like punctures, suspensions, and drivetrains. The programme starts on Sat 2 Nov with “Bike Maintenance 101” – book now! (if you’re out in Rangiora, there are also repeat courses at Pushbikes’ new Rangiora shop)
- If you like to watch and cheer on the excitement of closed circuit street racing, then come along on Sun 17 Nov to the central city from 1pm for the Criterium National Champs. See some of the top NZ riders compete for national honours. If you’re keen you can even have a go yourself in the non-championship street races.
- The monthly instalment of Coffee Outside continues this month on Fri 22 Nov near Riverside Market in town – turn up some time between 6.45 and 8.45am. Bring your bike, bring your favourite brew, and bring your jovial conversation!
- Throughout all the other happenings, RAD Bikes continue to provide their twice weekly bike building and repair sessions at The Commons (cnr Kilmore/Durham). Come along any Wed evening from 5.30pm or Sun afternoon (12-4pm) and either tinker on your own bike or have a go at making a new one. Keep an eye out for Sun 1 Dec when the annual Kids Bikes for Xmas charity fix-up is on…
Keep an eye on our events Calendar for details of all activities during November.
What Biketober activities will you be doing?
