Te Papa Ōtākaro/Avon River Shared Path Part 2

More news about the shared path along the river.

Yesterday a forum on Te Papa Ōtākaro/Avon River Precinct and Art Trail was held at the civil offices. The forum was in the form of a presentation, discussion and feedback and then a more detailed presentation about the design and layout of the entire precinct. It included discussion about what could be included as part of an art trail.

During the discussion comment was made that the Watermark section is too narrow and we were told to wait for the latter detailed talk. It was then revealed that what we thought is the new shared path, actually isn’t. That path is for pedestrians and Cambridge Terrace will be redesigned into what seems to be a bike priority street. That being the case, what we see now is not what we will get and not as bad as it looks!!

On closer inspection of the plan below, it looks like there is a bridge over Montreal St. Oxford Terrace will be changed from one-way river of cars to an access road for the hospital.
