Hey Lenny Boy, re. the pedestrian refuge idea near the Solway Ave end, do you mean ON Solway Ave to help pedestrians cross at the end of their footpath?

Look great. Really keen to see things simplified for cyclists, those that like to get out and just do a coffee cruise, or a leisure ride, as well as those who like to belt out a good workout! Cycling is fun, fitness and freedom all rolled into one!

That signalised crossing is going to have to be VERY well designed. It will not be visible to anyone whether motorist or cyclist travelling town-ward until they are right upon it because it’ll be obscured by the crest of the Kahu St. bridge.

Additionally, will Riccarton Bush continue to be locked up at night as it currently is? Doesn’t make much sense to have a “major” cycleway which is inaccessible in its entirety for a significant portion of every day.

Great summary as always. I’d like to be hopeful about the section through Riccarton Bush, but the actions of the trust to date aren’t promising. Apart from the big dogleg along Kahu Road which looks set to stay, in the last week they’ve emplaced big yellow concrete bollards to stop dastardly cyclists going around the ends of the speed bumps on the main drive.

Could you remind me what’s proposed to help people cross Kahu road into Riccarton Bush after crossing from the alleyway by Christchurch Boys High, at rush hours it’s very difficult to get across this road.
