There's also great riding on the true RHS / south side of the Heathcote River east of the Tannery, which is an easy place to start (It's on the new Heathcote Expressway). The route is best suited to those w MTBs and remember to duck your head and dismount as you pass underneath the Lyttelton Tunnel Rd bridge. This track can be very slippery in winter and after rain. The track exits at Ferrymead Heritage Park.
