Today 18/11/21 I asked CCC for an update on status and plans for the Northern Line MCR.

“The final sections” of this MCR were included in CCC’s Newsline story of 8/8/20 – see https://newsline.ccc.govt.nz/news/story/christchurch-cycleways-benefit-from-shovel-ready-funding.

Six cycle routes will be completed in Christchurch thanks to funding from the Government’s investment in shovel-ready infrastructure as part of the COVID-19 recovery.

The article (remember it is dated 8/8/20) goes on to say “Construction is expected to start on some of these projects within the next few months, with the remainder beginning in 2021”.

I do note that there have been works notices for Barnes Reserve, so it looks like something has been happening. If you can enlighten me, pls email me at secretary@spokes.org.nz.

Typo alert – You say “The Te Ara Ihutai Christchurch Coastal Path completion is progressing also.”
it’s Christchurch Coastal PathWAY 🙂 And whatever the name, it’s still great and will be even better.

Re the Northern Line: crossing improvements including signals at Harewood, Langdons, Sawyers are in the works – not sure if final designs or timing is locked in yet. The section Tuckers Rd right through to Styx Mill Rd (excepting Barnes Reserve which is underway now) has a planned start date of August 2022. Seems like the design / access negotiations with Kiwirail have impacted timing.
