I rode this cycleway on Friday as part of a trip from the city centre out to Halswell. It was impressive how little time I spent on the road, thanks to Hagley Park, the cycleway under the overbridge off Lincoln road to Annex Rd, this new overbridge path and the cycleway along side the Southern Motorway. Made for a nice ride.

Dave, you will be pleased to see the planned improvements to Annex Rd and Birmingham Dr reported previously: http://cyclingchristchurch.co.nz/2014/12/10/have-your-say-annexbirminghamwrightsmatipo-street-proposals/. Still, they might be a year or so away, so you might want to chase up the Council about the existing state of play (unfortunately I think it will be lobbed on to KiwiRail and I don’t know how fast they deal with these problems).

I was pleasantly surprised to see this open over the weekend. I must say the path going west along Wigram Rd and the motorway is gloriously smooth, an impeccable example of the noble craft of ashphalting.

Now who do we have to bug to get the horrible Annex Rd railway crossing fixed? The potholes around the railway lines seem to be getting worse by the day.

Does anyone know whether there is an online map going to be produced for cyclists which is regularly and promptly updated as all the new bits get added throughout the city?
