You might be pleasantly surprised with what is starting to take shape around town. Still quite a bit of construction to go, but already there are separated bikeways on Colombo and Tuam, and a quiet route along Oxford.]]></description>

I think it will very much be dependent on the quality of separated cycleways around the CBD. Personally, I can&#039;t say I&#039;ve been into the CBD for quite a while so I&#039;m unaware of the quality of existing or planned cycle lanes within the CBD. If there are proper separated lanes allowing for easy commuting through the city then I could see the bikes being quite popular.

However, if the biking amenities are similar to the pre-earthquake i.e. &#039;dicing with traffic&#039; then I doubt a casual visitor or someone who doesn&#039;t regularly cycle will be very interested in using them.]]></description>
