About 5 months ago I got a 100db+ Electronic horn from www.banggood.com and it gets used very often in the City. Sound pattern is a series of melodies similar to car burglar alarm and everybody seems to take notice. I ride an eBike and being a little bit faster than a normal bicycle car drivers often have problems judging my distance and speed. Banggood sent it shipping free and all up it cost me around $7.50. A really great investment for my bike.

Not sure that I need to resort to an airpowered horn but do think all bikes should be required to have a decent bell. Mine sounds like a door bell and is very effective.
It is much appreciated by walkers to hear a quick bell and maybe a "passing on your right" call than to have a cyclist wizz past unexpectedly.

I used to have one of the air powered ones when I lived in Auckland. I gave up on it because as you noticed, the car driver would just look around for the car they assumed was there, and still not see me. Seemed to happen more often than not.
